How Do You Find Good Blogs To Read?

My mother (currently my most loyal reader) asked me how to find good blogs to read. It’s a good question. I have to admit, I have been aware of blogs for a very long time, have dabbled with writing them for years, but I have long preferred reading more mainstream online media to reading blogs. So, I don’t have much experience searching for blogs.

However, I have recently begun seeking out blogs that are relevant to my own. I am curious what other people are thinking, and reading their blogs is a good way to find out. So, I am slowly working my way through reading a variety of blogs, checking each one out and frequently following links from those to others, where I repeat the process.

Not a very fast or efficient way to find blogs — so I was delighted to find a list of “Outstanding Blogs” posted by a blogger, Troy Worman. Read the rest of this entry »

Still More On Hillary and Bill Sharing the White House

The idea is gaining traction among commentators: having Bill back in the White House in an as-yet-to-be-determined role is not an appealing prospect. Here’s a column in the NYT, “Two Presidents Are Worse Than One,” by Garry Wills. Referring to Bill Clinton:

He has shown during his wife’s campaign that he is a person of initiative and energy. Does anyone expect him not to use his experience in an energetic way if he re-enters the White House as the first spouse? ….He can hardly be expected to show less involvement when he returns to the scene of his time in power as the resident expert. He is not the kind to be a potted plant in the White House.

Which raises an important matter. Do we really want a plural presidency?

Furthermore, his role in the campaign is drawing more fire. In his column, “Questions for the Clintons,” in the NYT, Bob Herbert points how how divisive both Clintons have proved to be. Read the rest of this entry »
